LONDON IRISH 38 - BRISTOL RUGBY 21

Tries from Linklater [above], Lemi and Eves [far right], all converted by Tom Arscott, were just not enough to keep Bristol Rugby in the Guinness Premiership as London Irish piled on the points at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

For the second time in six years the Exiles have condemned Bristol to a spell of National League One rugby.

Facing relegation Bristol take to the field

Luke Eves touches down for Bristol

The Exiles squad, including 14 full internationals, proved too much for Bristol to tame

"Over the last couple of weeks I've been signing players so we've got a squad ready to play next season."

"Last time around - and I wasn't involved because I was academy manager - no-one knew where players were going. "

It was pretty obvious that most of the players were going to leave so we literally had three or four staying ... We had to build from scratch and yet that didn't start until we had the coaching staff in place."

"We're miles ahead of that now and we're already building. We know what we're facing and we're in war mode to get out of this league."

"Being relegated is disappointing but there's a bright future for this club. I wouldn't do the job if there wasn't a future."

"I'm passionate about Bristol and I believe we'll get back to where we should be very, very soon."
