14FEB2009 - bristolsport.net photos by Andrew Tobin After playing for almost an hour against visitors Harlequins with just 14 men, London Irish succumbed to their fourth defeat out of five loosing 9-14 at the Madejski Stadium last Saturday. The Exiles, title contenders for this season's Guinness Premiership, lost hooker David Paice for throwing a punch and arguing his case with the referee just 22 minutes into the game. Level 6-6 at half time via the boots of Irish full back Peter Hewat and Quins' Nick Evans, it was the home side that gained the upper hand after the break following a penalty kick from Alfredo Lalanne. However, the advantage was soon lost as Ceri Jones battled his way over the Irish line for a try. Though the conversion was missed, Evans later closed the scorecard at 9-17 with a further penalty kick in the 77th minute. [Right] 9 points for Quins Nick Evans ... |
