IN CONCLUSION

Division
1
Going
into the final League matches of the season a lot of the promotion
and relegation issues were already settled. Sneyd Park had already
won the League championship, and Lawes had finished as runner
up. However, whilst Clifton Rockets' bottom position was decided
some time ago, who would occupy the other relegation position
in Division 1 had still to be decided. To avoid that other relegation
position Sporting Greyhound needed to win its final match and
hope that both Hare on the Hill and Durdham Down Adult School
would lose. Unfortunately Hare on the Hill won 2-1 against Bristol
Juve and Durdham Down drew 2-2 with Portland Old Boys, so Sporting
Greyhound's 2-2 draw with Ashley was not enough to save them.
Division
2
Torpedo
were promoted as Division 2 champions sometime ago and return
to the top Division after only 12 months absence. The remaining
promotion position rested between Cabot Asset Finance, who finished
as Third Division runners up last season and AFC Bohemia. Cabot
won its final match 1-0 against Hydez FC and thus clinched the
Second Division runners up, whilst AFC Bohemia finished five points
behind Cabot after a 3-3 draw with Luccombe Garage. Bristol Dynamos
and Tebby AFC were already relegated.
Division
3
The
top two positions in Division Three were already decided, but
champions Cotswool Reserves reinforced their credentials after
beating runner up Retainers Reserves 2-1. At the bottom three
clubs were contesting two relegation positions, and two of those
clubs met in a crunch match. Evergreen, who were two points in
front of both Jersey Rangers and Cotham Old Boys, beat Jersey
3-2 to consign Jersey and Cotham Old Boys to the relegation positions.

Division
4
In
the Fourth Division Torpedo A were already champions, but the
runner up was still to be decided between Luccombe Garage Reserves
and Blackboy Inn. Unfortunately, this was settled off the pitch
when Sneyd Park B cried off their fixture against Luccombe at
the last moment meaning that Blackboy Inn could not finish second.
Despite this Blackboy's players hit the back of Clifton St Vincents
B's net eleven times without reply to vent their frustration.
Bengal Tigers and Tebby AFC Reserves must seek re-election.
The
Cotswool Cup for season 2006/07 was awarded to Torpedo for having
the largest positive goal difference. Although there is no prize
for second position in this award Torpedo A were second!
The
League's Cup finals take place on the Downs on Saturday, 12th
May with Easton Cowboys playing Portland Old Boys in the Norman
Hardy Cup final at 2.30 pm, whilst in the junior final for the
All Saints Cup Easton Cowboys Reserves will face Torpedo Reserves
at 12.30 pm.
