BATH
TRIO MAY SUE FOR CONSTRUCTIVE DISMISSAL OVER 'RECREATIONAL DRUGS
TEST'
Though agreeing
to undertake the World Anti-Doping Standards blood and urine tests
at Bath Rugby, it has emerged today that it was the Club's demands
for additional hair sample scrutiny, for recreational drugs, that
led to players Alex Crockett, Michael Lipman and Andrew Higgins
resigning unexpectedly last Monday.
The test,
which provides a reliable record of cocaine and other substance
use for periods up to three months prior to the analysis date, is
now widely used by sporting bodies and relevant authorities worldwide.
Constructive
Dismissal
Through
their legal representatives the trio are threatening to sue Bath
Rugby for constructive dismissal on the grounds that they have conformed
to all of their legal obligations with regard to the required World
Anti-Doping Standards, and consider their Club's demands both unreasonable
and defamatory in implication.
