BRISTOL 28 - LONDON WELSH 23

06SEP09

Trailing 23-17 with eight minutes to play Bristol Rugby showed true grit and determination in their opening clash at the Mem against London Welsh contesting every ball and eventually running out winners by 5 points.

Tries from Tom Ascott [homepage] and Dan Norton [below right] in the first 40 minutes had shown what Bristol were capable of ... but it was the boot of Adrian Jarvis [below], and sheer power of Lee Robinson [right] that saved the day giving rise to real optimism that coach Paul Hull's team can indeed return to top flight Premiership rugby next season.
